Held at the beautiful Randwick Racecourse in late September or early October as part of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival, the Premiere Stakes is a Group 2 race for thoroughbred sprinters.

Conducted over 1,200m under weight-for-age conditions, the Premiere Stakes is one of five Group status races held on Epsom Super Saturday. The other major events running on the same program include the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), the Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap (2400m), the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m), the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) and the Group 3 Craven Plate (2000m).
The Premiere Stakes was previously held on a smaller race day alongside the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1500m), Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m), Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m) and the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m), giving punters plenty of variety and excitement!
The Premiere Stakes is worth $500,000 in prizemoney and can attract a similar field of runners to earlier weight-for-age races including the Group 3 Missile Stakes (1100m) at Randwick in early August and the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm.
