Having returned to racing in slick form this year, classy sprinter Famous Seamus has opened as and maintained status as clear favourite for success in Premiere Stakes betting markets, currently available at odds of $2.50 ahead of I’ve Got The Looks ($3.70) and clear market mover Generalife ($4.60) at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Will Famous Seamus justify favouritism and win the 2014 Premiere Stakes, or will one of his classy rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Sincero ($8)

A two time Group 1 champion, Sincero has not been seen at the races since finishing well off the pace in the 2013 edition of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), but in prime form is without doubt the class horse confirmed for the 2014 Premiere Stakes and is well and truly worth consideration for a bet at current $8 odds. Securing an impressive record of 12 wins and two minor places from just 29 competitive starts, the lightly-raced seven-year-old undoubtedly hit peak condition over the 2011 racing calendar; winning both the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) and Group 1 George Main Stakes. Confirmed to be partnered by in-form jockey Tye Angland in the Premiere Stakes, Sincero is a leading chance of success.

2nd

Generalife ($4.60)

A standout performer over the few black type sprints through the Sydney winter this year, Generalife has so far received the greatest market share of wagers for success in 2014 Premiere Stakes betting markets, cutting in from opening odd of $5.50 to currently register at a quote of $4.60. Claiming eight wins and four minors from just 21 competitive starts so far, the Lonhro gelding quickly built to the task over minor sprints through autumn; well and truly hitting his straps when winning the Gaypak United Fruit 3.y.o+ (1350m) on June 14th before charging home to comfortably win each of the Listed Civic Stakes (1350m) and Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) back-to-back. Allocated the ideal barrier 4 and confirmed to be partnered by Sydney premiership winning jockey James McDonald, Generalife is more than worth consideration for a bet at current odds.

3rd

Famous Seamus ($2.50)

Cutting in from an opening quote of $2.70 in Premiere Stakes betting markets, punters may find value in adding Famous Seamus as a selection in a quinella or trifecta bet this weekend. Contesting an impressive record of nine wins and eight minor places from just 32 competitive starts so far, the Elusive City gelding finished third in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) first-up this year, and while unable to figure in either of the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) or Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m), hit impressive condition upon arriving in Brisbane for the Winter Racing Carnival, highlighted by a maiden Group 1 victory when taking out the BTC Cup (1200m) ahead of a classy field on May 10th.
