English has been a strong and consistent performer for Gai Waterhouse throughout her entire racing tenure, but undoubtedly returned to racing in career-best form in autumn this year; highlighted by a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 16th.

Berry is pleased to have been booked for the Encosta De Lago mare’s first two runs in spring; revealing the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) will figure as her first point of call before progression to the Premiere Stakes 2016.

“English is going really well,” Berry told Racing Ahead.

“I’ve been booked for the first two rides of her preparation.

“At the moment I think she’ll be going to The Shorts first-up and the Premiere Stakes second-up, then off to Melbourne.

“Targeting a couple of the sprint races down there mid-way through the spring.”

Unlucky to miss the 2015 Spring Carnival as a result of a minor ailment, English proved she was back to full health upon resuming this year for success in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) on March 5th.

Progressing to sixth in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) on March 19th, the mare out of Court ran third in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) on April 2nd, in what was her only other start prior to her All Aged Stakes triumph.
